Angela Neil is a London based Cinematographer working in Film, TV, Documentary and Commercial. Many of her short films have won multiple awards globally. Selected credits include; BIFA nominated documentary ‘Copa 71’, BIFA and BAFTA long listed short film ‘Sister Wives’. 2nd Unit work includes ‘Devil’s Hour’ ‘Queens of Mystery’ ‘Trying’ ‘Shuga Babi’ and interactive feature film ‘Erica’. Over the past 5 years Angela has also been working with NBC news teams globally shooting full length documentaries, breaking news and special reports on many current affairs including the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East as well as the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Angela graduated from the NFTS at the begining of 2018 with an MA in Cinematography. Whilst studying, she was awarded the BAFTA and Prince William, Warner Bros Scholarship. Tutored by Brian Tufano BSC, Nina Kellgren BSC, Stuart Harris and Oliver Stapleton BSC whilst at the NFTS, as well as having the award winning cinematographer Kate Reid BSC as personal mentor. Sean Bobbitt was on her selection panel for entry into NFTS and has long been inspiration for his many years travelling the world in news and documentary. Her first decision to venture into being a DOP herself was after watching the incredible Stephan Pehrsson hard at work on The Musketeers.
Prior to the NFTS, Angela worked as a freelance camera operator and 2nd AC. She cut her teeth in film shooting EPK’s for TV Dramas such as Sherlock, Call the Midwife, War and Peace, Luther and more
London born and bred, her 1st degree was in Photography and Digital imaging, after which she became a photography assistant working in fashion, editorial, advertising, as well as 1st assistant to Zena Holloway, multi award winning underwater photographer.
In a previous life she was also a Sailor.
