Angela Neil is a London based Director of Photography working in Film, TV, Documentary and Commercial. Selected credits include; 2nd Unit DOP on interactive feature film ‘Erica’, Dateline’s ‘Murder in the house of Gucci’ and ‘Long road to freedom’ TV series ‘Queens of mystery’ and ‘Trying’ and creative DOP for MTV’s ‘Shuga Babi’. More recently, Angela has been working with NBC Universals news team reporting the war in Ukraine, the COVID-19 Pandemic and other global stories.
Angela graduated from the NFTS at the begining of 2018 with an MA in Cinematography. Whilst studying, she was awarded the BAFTA and Prince William, Warner Bros Scholarship. Tutored by Brian Tufano BSC, Nina Kellgren BSC, Stuart Harris and Oliver Stapleton BSC whilst at the NFTS, as well as having the award winning cinematographer Kate Reid BSC as personal mentor.
Prior to the NFTS, Angela worked as a freelance camera operator, shooting online materials for TV Dramas such as Sherlock, Call the Midwife, War and Peace, Luther and others for BBC, ITV and Channel 4 including working as mini cams specialist on the TV show ‘The Jump’. In 2015 she began working as a cinematographer. Her first short film ‘Araenie Dei’ won Best Drama in the LAIFF Awards and Best Short in the HIMPFF awards.
London born and bred, after completing her degree in Photography and Digital imaging, Angela travelled for several years working abroad as a sailor and hotel manager before returning to the UK to work as a photography assistant. She worked with many acclaimed photographers of fashion, editorial and advertising, including being 1st assistant to Zena Holloway, multi award winning underwater photographer.
Awards include; Short films ‘Ice Cream and Doughnuts’ ‘The Call Centre’ ‘This is Zoe’ and ‘The Milk Bottle’. Documentary ‘Abrazame’ IDA nominated. Animation ‘Hedgehog’ winner of several Academy festivals worldwide including the Seoul animation festival.
